BDV celebrates its 50th anniversary

  • The BDV (German Vending Association) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 50th anniversary during a two-day event held on 12 and 13 June. Combining its renowned business event, Vendcon, with its yearly general assembly meeting, the BDV attracted nearly 300 attendees to commemorate this special occasion.

The festivities commenced on the first day with a series of informative workshops featuring esteemed speakers who discussed professional catering concepts, smart stores, and micromarkets. These sessions provided vending operators with valuable insights into current market trends and opportunities. The participants engaged in lively discussions, fostering a better understanding of the industry’s evolving landscape.

On the second day, the focus shifted to the BDV’s general assembly meeting, where Director General Aris Kaschefi delivered a comprehensive presentation on the association’s activities. Notably, the event served as a bittersweet farewell to Beate Schönen, a long-serving member of the BDV, who bid adieu after dedicating over 25 years to the organisation.

During the assembly meeting, a new Board was elected to lead the BDV into the future. Michael Heuser from Heuser GmbH assumed the role of President, alongside Oliver Gengenbach from Karl Gengenbach GmbH & Co, Marco Malsch from Malsch Automatenservice, Andreas Weiß from Darboven, Bernd Schumacher, Kerstin Tepasse from SAF Tepasse, and Dennis Reinhardt from Automaten Reinhardt. Unfortunately, BDV representative Günter Maas could not be reelected, as he had departed CPI.

Adding to the excitement, the VendCon exhibition showcased the latest advancements in vending technology and services, attracting close to 30 exhibitors. Industry professionals eagerly explored the exhibits throughout both days, fostering networking opportunities and promoting innovative collaborations.

To commence the anniversary celebrations, attendees embarked on a memorable boat trip around the picturesque city of Potsdam. The festivities concluded with a delightful dinner accompanied by live music, providing the perfect ambiance for former BDV Board members to share cherished memories and anecdotes.

The European Vending & Coffee Service Association (EVA) was well represented at the event, with its Director General, Erwin Wetzel, in attendance. The BDV’s 50th anniversary celebration at Vendcon and the general assembly meeting underscored the association’s remarkable achievements and its commitment to advancing the vending industry in Germany.
